The thing about laying on a couch and talking about your past to find the things that affect you in the present then talking about it until it doesnt bother you anymore is pretty close to their methods.

They are against forced treatments which are not cures. Efforts to force someone into a more "normal" mode just to be more handleable even if it masks the symptoms and precludes working toward a real cure. Lobotomy, Electro-Shock, uppers, downers, hypnotism, etc.

As far as Tom Cruise, he was always abit childish and over enthusiastic. People used to find it cute. And now they blame it on scientology.

By the way, your anecdote of the ADHD person is a perfect example.
