All of us have a fav spy -someone we'd call on to save our country in our hour of need. These are the super spies with a license to kill, and to entertain.
Bond- James Bond. It just wouldnt be a list of top spies without him would it? With a gorgeous girl on his arm, the best gadgets and tuxedo neatly pressed while saving the world, Bond showed us how to do things with style. Everyone will argue for hours over who was the best Bond, but never whether 007 deserves his legendary status. When we think of Spies we think of him because nobody does it better.
Harry Palmer- Micheal Caine played the Anti Bond. A world apart from Bond, the Palmer films took places in gritty settings, with Palmer himself a mirror image of Bond. While he might not have the charm of 007, he had the drive to get the mission done, and the means to do so.
Austin Powers- The 60's grooviest spy who was frozen and defrosted in the 90s to fight his arch nemises Doctor Evil. Paying homage to the great spies and the films, Powers had Bond gadgets, Palmers glasses and a charm that was his own. Powers would always save the day, but not before giving us all a good laugh along the way. Not only have the movies successfully paid tribute to the spy movies of yesterday, but also given us catchphrases and a world all of its own.
Jason Bourne. It took alot of money and training to make him the best at what he can do, but the Bourne films begin with him close to death and with amensia. Bond didnt adapt greatly to the new millenuim, but Bourne slotted in brilliantly, blending into the crowd to work, but not above acting when the moment called for it. Hunted by his own agency over the course of three films, Bourne's training always kept him one step ahead.
