We have been wanting to get rid of Comcast digital cable for a long time. The problem is they suck you in with their bundles that include voice, internet, and TV service. When you need to remove one, you miss out on the discounts of the package.

But the cable TV service just has to go, as the channel selection and quality is below par. There is so much talk these days about high definition, there isn't much of that with Charter cable TV. So I started researching who else was available in my neck of the woods.

I am fortunate to be one of the individuals who have a few options. Unlike most people who can only pick from either the cable company or Direct TV satellite TV, I have a third choice in this region. The old telephone company in my neighborhood has been altering the telephone network. So I have an additional player with U-verse from AT&T.

That doesn't mean of course I won't have the same issues. It could put someone in the same situation as with the cable TV company, because phone guys want customers to bundle their TV setup with internet and voice service. If the deal is good, I'll be happy. Then again if the service is poor you're in the same situation that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn't all that great.

The reviews I found are fairly good on telecom TV service. Of course it is brand new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some folks write bad reviews. Those reviews are the funny, because people decide to write a dissertation on their horrible experience and post it on the world wide web. They rail on the company like it is some huge conspiracy to screw the customer, as if the company does not want our money!

Another option I am seriously considering is of course satellite television. Since we have five TV watchers in our home, we usually buy a high end cable television package. The satellite TV choices seem to be pretty comparable, as the Directv Premier Package and the America's Everything Pack from DISH Network are both right around $105 per month. Sure that's pretty high for cable television, but when you make the comparison with treating your family to supper and a trip to the movies, it really isn't all that much. The great thing is that there are lots of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.
